I’m delighted to be able to share an adorable dress that I was honored to test recently. The Holly is the first pattern officially released by Audrey & Tiffany. If you haven’t yet heard of this designer, you will certainly be seeing more of them. Audrey & Tiffany is a lovely collaboration between E+M Patterns and Sprouting Jube Jube. However this is not the first dress that they designed together. Do you remember the enchanting Secret Garden Dress?
Now that you’ve seen it, of course you remember it. The flounce is so beautiful. The Holly is equally lovely and such a classic design.
The Holly features a beautiful pin tucked bodice, square neck line, empire waist and a full skirt. The skirt is not quite a circle so it doesn’t take up an excessive amount of fabric. The contrast band at the top of the skirt is optional. I really like the band because you can use it to pull out a pop of color without having to manage a tie.
When I took these photos it was chilly out so I paired it with a long sleeve shirt and leggings underneath. Isn’t it still so adorable? It’s great to have such a versatile dress.
The back closes with button loops. I chose 3 because the buttons are fairly large. I have seen some other testers use up to 5 and it looks exquisite.
As always with E+M Patterns the inside is finished beautifully. The only exposed seams are in the skirt. If you did a french seam for the skirt, there would be no seams anywhere to be seen. In fact, you could probably be super clever by lining the skirt and making it reversible. I might just have to try that…
The bodice of the dress is slim enough to give it a tailored look without losing the needed ease for comfort. The dress sews up super quick aside from the pin tucks. But Deb and Allison have a fix for that! They have also included the option to gather the bodice instead of the pin tucks. I didn’t sew one up but the dresses I saw with the gathers were also gorgeous.
Now for the details on how you can get this lovely pattern. Head over to the ETSY STORE. The pattern retails for $6 which is already a steal and until tomorrow you can get 25% off with the code HOLLY. That means at $4.50 you can have this pattern for less than you would pay for your morning coffee and donut.
pssst… the code works for the Secret Garden too!
